ON AIR, AROUND THE WORLD!
The weekend of 17th to 19th October saw Scouts from around the world communicating with each other as part of the worldwide Jamboree on the Internet and Jamboree on the Air event.
Here in Avon there was no exception, with Scouts from across the county gathering at 229th Bristol's HQ in Ashton Gate for this year's JOTI Radio event.
Beavers, Cubs and Scouts enjoyed the opportunity to chat to members across the world using iPads, as well as broadcasting live on the Radio courtesy of Avon Scout Radio.
Throughout the weekend there were also a range of activities including pizza-making, international crafts and video games - as well as practicing their electronics skills building torches!
Some groups were lucky enough to stay overnight at the HQ, and enjoy a whole night of activities, with very little sleep. Speaking on Saturday morning, after an overnight stay at the JOTI event with her Scouts, Katrina Reynolds (Scout Leader, 66th Bath) said:
" The Scouts may have been all been asleep come wake up this morning, however for how long is questionable. The night was filled with chatting to Scouts from around the world, speaking on the radio amongst games and crafts. By the time the leaders went to bed, the lights were off but the room was glowing with the faint light of ipads. Now we're on our way back to Bath and I think everyone will be looking forward to a restful weekend."
A great weekend was had by all - even as they returned, tired, to Bath, the 66th Bath Scouts were already planning next year's JOTI adventure!
